Anxiety is something everyone feels from time-to-time. Situations such as meeting tight deadlines, important social obligations or driving in heavy traffic often bring about nervous feelings.

Such mild apprehension may help make you alert and focused on facing threatening or challenging circumstances. On the other hand though, unease and worry can cause severe distress over a period of time. Fortunately, with proper and effective treatment, people suffering from anxiety can learn to lead normal lives.

With Careful Treatment For Your Anxiety Near Hatfield, You Will Be Helped To Recognise What Triggers Your Anxiety And You Will Learn How To Manage It

How Will I Be Helped With My Anxiety?

You will be helped to bring your anxiety issues under control so situations which currently cause you to feel anxious will now help you to remain calm.

As with the majority of emotional issues it is not an actual event or impending event that causes you to feel anxious but it’s your negative thought patterns towards the event that makes you feel the way you do. The skills of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will help you to deal with, and permanently change, your negative thought patterns to positive ones. This is achieved by helping you to challenge your negative thought patterns. Below, you will see an example of how negative thinking can impede on your life.

An example of dysfunctional thoughts, beliefs and emotions causing anxiety

Activating Event
Going out to a social event. (Event in the future).

Dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs
There will be lots of people there and as I wont know many people I will have no one to talk to. I bet people will be looking at me because I will be on my own. It will be awful. I really don't think I can do this. (This client is talking herself into not going out because of what she believes will happen).

Dysfunctional emotion or consequence
Anxiety, social anxiety, and panic attacks, resulting in avoidance and in extreme circumstances total avoidance of any social situation.

As you can see from the above example it’s not the event that is causing the anxiety, it’s the thoughts and beliefs attached to the event which causes the anxiety. Whatever type of anxiety you are experiencing it is highly likely that it is your negative thoughts and beliefs about what you think will happen which causes the anxiety, not the event itself causing the anxiety.

I will help you to challenge your negative beliefs to determine the possibility against what you consider to be a probable outcome. At present it is your thoughts of a probable outcome which is producing your symptoms of anxiety. Once you are able to look at an event or impending event in a new positive way then the levels of your anxiety will start to diminish.
In order for you to challenge these negative thoughts however, you first need to understand what triggers your anxiety, whether it's current situations, worry or anxiety about what might happen or negative reaction to other individuals.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, (CBT) is the preferred method of treatment recommended by the NHS to facilitate change. The aims of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy are to help you change the way that you think, feel and behave so to make anxiety a thing of the past.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for anxiety, as mentioned above, helps you to adopt new positive thinking processes by challenging your dysfunctional thinking. You will also be helped to understand what triggers the symptoms of your anxiety. This is achieved with the use of of Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy helps to uncover underlying causes which may be triggering events to your present day anxieties. When you find the symptoms of your anxiety surfacing, you do not do it deliberately, it is not a conscious action, generally it's something you experience building up and very often don't understand where it is coming from. Hypnotherapy helps to give the answers to your anxiety, answers which are not there at a conscious level. Anxiety disorders are spontanious subconscious actions which you have created and have now become habit. You will be helped to break this habit.

Once your subconscious mind is on board to help you learn not to respond to situations with the emotion of anxiety and once you have learned the new conscious skill of positive thinking processes you will be well on your way to living your life free from the grip of anxiety. Therapy within hypnosis will go a long way to helping you with the symptoms of your anxiety and because it deals with the problem at its root...your subconscious, results will be seen very quickly. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will help you to challenge your negative dysfunctional thinking to create new positive functional thoughts. Hypnotherapy will help you to change your subconscious habit of reacting in an anxious way.

All treatments at the Hertfordshire Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Clinic are designed to be solution focused. We do not dwell on the past, the main stay of your treatment deals with how you are going to deal with situations in the future in a more calming and positive way. The treatment provided is rapid and effective.

Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest therapies around and is validated by the British Medical Association,(BMA), as an orthodox treatment and not merely a complimentary practice. Unfortunately, stage shows have given people misconceptions as to what hypnosis is. Some people think that they lose control of their faculties or that they are asleep. Some people think that they will be made to say things they do not want to say.

All these misconceptions make people sceptical but are far from what hypnosis is. During the hypnotherapy sessions you are infact, in a state of heightened awareness where you will be helped to find the answers to your issues. You cannot be made to say or do anything which goes against your own beliefs or morals. During the deep relaxed state of hypnosis you are always consciously aware of what is happening, after all, if you were't how could we converse and work together?! Although consciously aware, your subconscious mind is in a heightened state of awareness. That is why this form of therapy is so effective because we are able to establish the root of all problems where they are burried...the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is a very safe and effective form of treatment helping to fix problems which are subconscious actions. Hypnotherapy faq's.
