The state of hypnosis is brought about by inducing a natural state of relaxation, where you are in a heightened state of awareness and where your mind is receptive to making positive change.
Sometimes when something new happens to us, we remember it and learn a particular behaviour in response to that circumstance. Memories stored in our brains hold the original physical and emotional reactions that occurred when the given memory was first formed.
Each time similar events occur again, the physical and emotional reactions attached to the memory are repeated. These reactions may be inappropriate or unhealthy such as the symptoms of anxiety, stress, panic attacks, depression and phobia’s. When this is the case, I guide you to remember the event that led to the first reaction, separate the memory from the learned behaviour, and reconstruct the event with new, healthier associations.
During the session, your body and mind is relaxed while your thoughts become more focused and attentive. Like other relaxation techniques, hypnotherapy decreases blood pressure and heart rate, and alters certain types of brain wave activity. In this relaxed state, you will feel very at ease physically yet fully aware mentally. It works to help you fix the problem at its root…your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind creates these symptoms, in effect it teaches you how to behave in the way you do. So if your symptoms are born subconsciously then it makes sense that they need to be fixed at this subconscious level.
