Panic attacks and their symptoms affect every sufferer in different ways; however, there is a small group of symptoms which are common to most sufferers.

The symptoms and the degree to which they affect the sufferer are dependent on a number of factors, the most important of which being age, genetic makeup and fitness level. The most common symptoms are:

  • Rapid heart beat, pounding heart or palpitations.
  • Sweating.
  • Shaking visibly or inside.
  • Choking sensations or a lump in the throat.
  • Smothering or shortness of breath sensations.
  • Chest pain or discomfort.
  • Nausea, bloating, indigestion or abdominal discomfort.
  • Dizziness or unsteadiness.
  • Feeling light headed.
  • Fear of losing control or going crazy
  • Tingling sensations in the face or other extremeties or body
  • Chills or hot flushes
  • Skin loses colour
  • Blushing or skin blotches
  • Urgently needing to urinate or defecate

If you suffer from a combination of the above, then you might be suffering from Panic Attacks, an affliction which haunts almost one-third of the world’s adult population. Though these panic spells may be short, they can become frequent and harmful if left unattended.

With Careful Panic Attack Treatment In Arlesey and Stotfold, You'll Learn To Bring Your Panic Attacks Under Control, Allowing The Emotion To Disperse.

You can get an attack anytime, anywhere. There is no rational explanation to it. Sometimes you can sail through a situation without any problems, even though you suffered anxiety when you were in a similar situation earlier. Sometimes, you can experience panic attacks even when you are going through mundane things like crossing the road, or shopping at your local shop.

The symptoms can cause a lot of turmoil in your life. You might end up isolating yourself from other people, or you might avoid going to the places that you have had attacks before. If you have established the fact that you are indeed suffering from panic attacks and you live in the palpable fear of when the next one’s going to happen, then the Hertfordshire Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy clinic can help you.

How Will I Be Helped With Panic Attacks?

I will help you once and for all, to bring the symptoms of your panic attacks under control so situations which currently cause you to feel anxious will now help you to remain calm.

As with the majority of emotional issues it is not an activating event that causes you to feel panic but it’s your negative thought patterns towards the event that creates the symptoms. The skills of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will help you to deal with and permanently change your negative thought patterns to positive ones. In order for you to challenge these negative thoughts however, you first need to understand what the triggers of your panic attacks are.

An example of dysfunctional thoughts, beliefs and emotions which can bring on a panic attack.

Activating Event
Being in the shopping centre.

Dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs
There are so many people here. What about if there is an emergency, how will we all get out? I can’t even see where the exits are. I have to find the exits…I have to get out NOW.

Dysfunctional negative emotion or consequence
Feelings of panic. An urgent need to leave the shopping centre. In extreme circumstances if the panic attacks become regular then total avoidance of closed spaces could occur because of the worry about having a panic attack.

As you can see from the above example it’s not the event (being in the shopping centre,) that is causing the person to experience a panic attack, it’s the negative dysfunctional thoughts, beliefs and worries attached to being in the shopping centre which is causing the person to experience the panic attack symptoms. Whenever you experience a panic attack it is highly likely that it is your negative thoughts and beliefs about what you think will happen which causes you to feel panicky, not the event itself.

I will help you to challenge your negative beliefs to determine the possibility against what you consider to be a probable outcome. At present it is your negative dysfunctional thinking which is causing you to worry which bring on the symptoms of panic. Once you are able to look at an event or impending event in a new positive way then the levels of your anxiety will start to diminish.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, (CBT) is the preferred method of treatment recommended by the NHS to facilitate change. The aims of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Panic Attacks are to help you change the way that you think, feel and behave so to make the thought patterns behind your panic attacks a thing of the past.

You will also be helped to understand what triggers the symptoms of your panic with the very powerful therapeutic model of Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy for Panic Attacks helps to uncover underlying causes of events which may be triggering events to your present day panic attack symptoms. When you find the symptoms of a panic attack surfacing, you do not do it deliberately, it is not a conscious action. The feelings of panic can surface very quickly. Because the panic feelings are spontanious, this gives a very clear indication that the panic attacks you experience are infact a habit, a habit which you have created over time to the levels they are now. This spontanious habit comes from your subconscious mind and hypnotherapy will help break this habit. Hypnotherapy for panic attacks is very effective because it deals with the problem where it is buried...in your subconscious mind. Once your subconscious mind accepts to respond to the situations where you currently experience panic, in a more calming and natural way you can wave the panic attacks away forever.

Panic Attack therapy within hypnosis will go a long way to helping you with present emotions and because it deals with the problem at its root...your subconscious mind, results will be seen very quickly. Just as you have learned, over time, to develop these feelings of panic, equally you WILL learn to experience the same situations in a calm and relaxed way. Panic Attacks WILL be a thing of the past with the specialised and effective treatment you will receive.

All treatments at the Hertfordshire Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Clinic are designed to be solution focused. We do not dwell on the past, the main stay of your treatment for panic attacks deals with how you will deal with situations in the future in a more calming and positive way. The treatment provided is rapid and effective.

Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest therapies around and is validated by the British Medical Association,(BMA), as an orthodox treatment and not merely a complimentary practice. Unfortunately stage shows have given people misconceptions as to what hypnosis is. Some people think that they lose control of their faculties or that they are asleep. Some people think that they will be made to say things they don't want to. Others think that the hypnotherapist is in control and can make people do whatever he says.

All these misconceptions make people sceptical but are far from what hypnosis is. During the hypnotherapy sessions your conscious mind is relaxed but your subconscious mind is in a heightened state of awareness. This is why Hypnotherapy is so successful because we can work where the problem is...in your subconscious mind without the interference of the conscious mind. During the deep relaxed state of hypnosis you are always consciously aware of what is happening, after all, if you were't how could we converse and work together?! Hypnosis is a very safe and effective form of treatment helping to fix problems which are subconscious actions. Hypnotherapy faq's.
