The causes of Impotence can be physical, psychological, or both. Emotional factors affecting sex include both interpersonal problems (such as marital/relationship problems, lack of trust and open communication between partners,) psychological problems within the individual (sexual fears, guilt, depression or past sexual trauma).

A person can experience Impotence at any time in life. For some, the onset of these difficulties can surface in the teens or surface later on in life after many years of enjoyable and non-problematic sex. Equally, impotence can just suddenly appear or may develop over time. There can be many reasons why sex cannot be enjoyed or participated in but fall into two main areas, Physical or psychological.

Physical Factors That Can Contribute To Sexual Problemss:

  • Drugs such as alcohol, nicotine, narcotics, stimulants, antihypertensives (medicines that lower blood pressure), antihistamines, and some psychotherapeutic drugs (used to treat psychological problems such as depression)
  • Injuries to the back
  • Problems with an enlarged prostate gland
  • Problems with blood supply
  • Nerve damage (as in spinal cord injuries)
  • Disease such as, (diabetic neuropathy, multiple sclerosis tumors, and, rarely, tertiary syphilis)
  • Failure of various organ systems (such as the heart and lungs)
  • Endocrine disorders (thyroid, pituitary, or adrenal gland problems)
  • Hormonal deficiencies (low testosterone, estrogen, or androgens)
  • Some birth defects

  • If it has been detected that physical factors are not the contributory reason for your impotence then the skills of Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy may well be able to successfully help you.

Generally, there are 4 categories in which people experience impotence; sexual desire disorder, sexual arousal disorder, orgasm disorder, and sexual pain disorder.

Very often, for both men and woman the symptoms of these categories may surface as an aversion or avoidance to have sexual contact. Men may experience a partial or complete failure to maintain an erection, little or no sexual excitement or pleasure or premature ejaculation.

At The Hertfordshire Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Clinic I Help You To Deal With The Emotional Issues Resulting In Your Impotence. Once Any Medical Condition Has Been Ruled Out It Is Important To Establish The Psychological Reasons To Your Impotence.

How Will I Be Helped With My Impotence?

You will be helped to control the effects of your impotence with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnotherapy. Impotence/Erectile Dysfunction treatment is conveniently located for clients living near Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Ware, Hertford, Knebworth and Welwyn.

As with the majority of emotional issues it is not an actual event or impending event that causes you to experience erectile dysfunction but it’s your negative thought patterns towards the event that makes you feel the way you do. The skills of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will help you to deal with, and permanently change, your negative thought patterns to positive ones. This is achieved by helping you to challenge your negative thought patterns. For example you may experience performance anxiety, you may have a poor body immage, you may have experienced erectile dysfunction before and believe that it will be the same every time or you may simply be trying too hard!

I will help you to challenge your negative beliefs to determine the possibility against what you consider to be a probable outcome. At present it is your thoughts of a probable outcome which is producing your Impotence symptoms. Once you are able to look at making love in a new positive way then the levels of your anxiety will start to diminish which in turn will help you to maintain an errection.
In order for you to challenge these negative thoughts however, you first need to understand what triggers your anxiety, whether it's current situations, worry or anxiety about what might happen or negative reaction to other individuals.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, (CBT) is the preferred method of treatment recommended by the NHS to facilitate change. The aims of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy are to help you change the way that you think, feel and behave so to make anxiety and the symptoms of Impotence a thing of the past.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Impotence, as mentioned above, helps you to adopt new positive thinking processes by challenging your dysfunctional thinking. You will also be helped to understand what triggers the symptoms of your anxiety. This is achieved with the use of of Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy for Impotence/erectile dysfunction helps to uncover underlying causes which may be triggering events to your present day anxieties. Hypnotherapy helps to give the answers to why you experience Impotence, answers which are not there at a conscious level. Erectile dysfunction is a subconscious action which you have created, although not deliberately but has now become habit. You will be helped to break this habit.

Once your subconscious mind is on board to help you learn not to respond to situations with the emotion of anxiety causing your Impotence and once you have learned the new conscious skill of positive thinking processes you will be well on your way to living your life free from the grip of erectile dysfunction. Therapy within hypnosis will go a long way to helping you with the symptoms of your Impotence and because it deals with the problem at its root...your subconscious, results will be seen very quickly. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will help you to challenge your negative dysfunctional thinking to create new positive functional thoughts. Hypnotherapy will help you to change your subconscious habit of reacting in an anxious way.

All treatments at the Hertfordshire Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Clinic are designed to be solution focused. We do not dwell on the past, the main stay of your treatment deals with how you are going to deal with situations in the future in a more calming and positive way. The treatment provided is rapid and effective.

Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest therapies around and is validated by the British Medical Association,(BMA), as an orthodox treatment and not merely a complimentary practice. Unfortunately, stage shows have given people misconceptions as to what hypnosis is. Some people think that they lose control of their faculties or that they are asleep. Some people think that they will be made to say things they do not want to say.

All these misconceptions make people sceptical but are far from what hypnosis is. During the hypnotherapy sessions your conscious mind is guided to a deep level of relaxation but your subconscious mind is in a state of heightened awareness where you will be helped to find the answers to your issues. That is why this form of therapy is so effective because we are able to establish the root of all problems where they are burried...the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is a very safe and effective form of treatment helping to fix problems which are subconscious actions. Hypnotherapy faq's.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnotherapy, alone, are very powerful methods of therapy to facilitate change but when applied together they can produce rapid life changing results.
