smoking
"Hypnosis is the most effective way to stop smoking, according to the largest ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit. Willpower, it turns out, counts for very little". (New Scientist, Volume 136 issue 1845 31 Oct 1992, page 6)

With this programme you will not be told or brainwashed about all the reasons why you shouldnt smoke, after all you know these reasons. We will, however, work together to look at the reasons why you continue to smoke. This is where you will find the path to quitting permanently and includes:

  • Looking at your beliefs as to why you smoke and what you believe smoking does for you i.e, "Smoking helps me to de-stress", "I cant go out for a drink and not smoke". You are helped to look at your beliefs to discover if they are fact or if they are simply habits and thoughts which you have learned to accept and adopt. Just as you may have learned to adopt these habits of thought then you can equally unlearn them. When you achieve these new thought trains stopping smoking will be one of the most easiest things you have ever achieved because you will not associate smoking with actions as you may have done before.

  • Establish current light up triggers and replace them with healthier alternative habits of behaviour.

  • Training in self hypnosis, relaxation techniques and stress management. Not only will this help you in the early few days if you experience any cravings but will also help you how to deal with stressful situations in a more, calm and relaxed way.

  • Future pacing and time line therapy. This is a very powerful NLP, (neurolinguistic programming), technique which helps you to see yourself in the future as a non smoker and to feel yourself as a non smoker. With this therapy you will feel and experience how you will deal with every day situations as a non smoker where before you may have smoked. These images will be firmly embedded as new habits of behaviour.

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy looks at your thoughts and beliefs and uses them to address issues or conditions within. Once you can challenge your negative thoughts and beliefs then you are well on your way to becoming a non smoker.

  • Hypnotic suggestion therapy. Once we have gone through the above methodically then suggestion therapy is then used. These are positive suggestions administered with hypnosis which are spoken to your subconscious mind for you to become a permanent non smoker. You will find the words "No thank you...I don't smoke", rolling off your tongue as if it is something you have always said.

  • A FREE re-inforcement cd to take home with you to act as back up should you require it. This is a hypnotherapy session and includes powerful suggestions to help you stay a permanent non smoker and can be listened to at your leisure whenever you wish.

  • smoking4If you have tried other ways to give up smoking that just haven't worked, call today and join the many people who have successfully stopped smoking easily and effortlessly at the Hertfordshire Hypnosis and Counselling Clinic.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Generally speaking 4-5 sessions will be required. I say this because I'm in the business to help you become a PERMANENT non smoker and I always ensure that every possible therapeutic aid is utilised to achieve this.

Some therapists do advertise the one session quick fix treatment. My professional experience has shown that although some success is obtained by this method the long term prognosis of permanent cessation of smoking by use of the one session method isn't high. This is why I base your treatment over 4-5 sessions.....TO HAVE SUCCESS.

How Does Hypnosis Help Me To Quit Smoking?

Do you remember the first time you smoked and many subsequent times after that when you felt nauseous and dizzy? What do you think was happening there? It was your mind and body rejecting the smoke and nicotine. Your mind and body was saying NO. Nonetheless, you decided to carry on and teach your mind to become a smoker and the habit was born.

This quit smoking programme deals with the habit and to help you teach your mind to become a non smoker. Hypnosis is a method by which the mind is brought to the state of total relaxation so that it becomes open to suggestion and change. It cuts out conscious thoughts and reasoning and creates an altered state of mind to be receptive to become a permanent non smoker.

Smoking is also a behaviour and with that behaviour there are beliefs that smoking must go hand in hand with tasks like driving, drinking coffee or alcohol, used as a stress release or a belief that it helps you relax. These, very often, are negative beliefs and I use cognitive behavioural therapy to help you change these beliefs. Cognitive behavioural therapy is the preferred method recommended by the NHS to facilitate behavioural change.

My aim is to help you become a permanent non smoker and the methods I use have proved to be long term successful with the many clients I have seen over the years.
